Therapeutic Yoga
Therapeutic yoga, using the Pancha Maya Kosha Model as a framework, can help identify where imbalance and emotional discomfort rests in the body and from what layer of your being the discomfort manifests. This reflective approach is rooted in ancient yoga philosophy with the notion of non-attachment at its core. We will begin with a collaborative consultation to explore areas of concern and outline your holistic goals. Over the course of our work together we will develop a physical yoga practice tailored to your needs and abilities that fosters mind-body-soul integration. Resources such as personalized meditations, breathwork practices and relevant reading will be offered as well.
Panacha Maya Kosha Model
The Koshas are the five layers of a human body, each with their own purpose and grade of energy. When each layer of the body is fulfilling its purpose and able to operate without resistance, you experience balanced and harmonious living. However, resistance to a kosha can develop in many forms; negative self-image or self-talk, doubts, misconceptions, judgements or expectations of ones physical body. This resistance can be rooted at any layer. Unfortunately the discomfort caused by resistance in one layer will not be contained, eventually a kosha unable to operate will seep and poison the remaining layers. That process can lead to emotional, mental, and physical discomfort.

I like to think of The Princess and the Pea. Somewhere, even deep within your kosha layers there may be a small riff in operation that is throwing off your wholeness and balanced integration. One must develop the sensitivity to first recognize the imbalance and furthermore must work through their inner material to restore balance.

Yoga in the form of physical practice, meditation, breathwork and withdrawl of the senses can allow you to tap into each kosha and take inventory of the quality of energy or functioning.
